We are looking for an experienced Website Developer to take ownership of the support, maintenance and ongoing development of Cemantica’s corporate website, built on Craft CMS and hosted on Microsoft Azure. 

You will be responsible for ensuring our website site is secure, stable, user-friendly and always aligned with our evolving business  offering. This role requires both front-end and back-end development expertise, as well as the ability to manage integrations, performance optimization and DevOps tasks in collaboration with our CIO and marketing team.

This is a freelance, part-time opportunity - perfect for an independent contractor who is proactive, detail-oriented and motivated to create meaningful digital experiences. You will report directly to our Marketing Director and collaborate with a dynamic, remote and international team.

Your job responsibilities include

  • Maintenance and Support: Manage and support www.cemantica.com, proactively troubleshooting and resolving issues in line with agreed deadlines (via monday.com)
  • Front-end development:  Build and optimize UI/UX using HTML, Tailwind CSS, JavaScript, webpack, Preact, and Craft CMS front-end frameworks (including plugins)
  • Back-end development: Maintain server-side logic, database interactions, and Craft CMS functionality using PHP and MySQL
  • DevOps & Hosting: Collaborate with the CIO to ensure smooth builds, deployments, backups, DNS management and Azure server set up and optimization
  • Performance & Security: Ensuring optimal website performance, security and scalability, liaising with our CIO
  • Content & SEO Alignment: Work closely with marketing colleagues to ensure content is current, SEO-optimized and designed for lead generation
  • Integrations: Ensuring website integrations with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM (Back Office) and SendGrid (SMTP) are working well for lead generation and platform trial purposes
  • Testing & Code Quality: Lead testing (including cross-browser), code reviews, debugging and maintain synchronization of staging/production environments
  • Documentation: Writing and maintaining clear documentation of your work and getting us up to date on the website documentation and infrastructure as a whole
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with Craft CMS updates, plugins, and best practices.
     

What we are looking for

Must have:

  • Fluent in English
  • Based in EMEA region (preferably Europe, UTC ±3)
  • Proven Craft CMS expertise (architecture, Twig templating, plugin ecosystem)
  • Ability to install, configure and support Craft CMS upgrades and add-ons
  • Strong proficiency in PHP,  AJAX, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML etc.
  • Experience with MySQL and other relational databases
  • Experience with Bitbucket (version control)
  • Familiarity with cookies (Usercentrics) and sessions (Google Tag Manager)
  • Knowledge of web performance tools (Google Analytics, Search Console)
  • A portfolio showcasing prior Craft CMS or similar web development projects
     

Strongly preferred:

  • API, web services and third-party integrations experience
  • JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, Node) experience
  • Infrastructure experience (e.g. Azure, Docker, VMs, DDEV, Vite)
  • Familiarity with deployment tools (SASS, npm, webpack, yarn, CRON jobs)
  • Understanding of UI/UX best practices
